You know I have wanted to purchase a home somewhere warm for quite some time - and I'm not giving up that dream - but I've come to realize that buying a place in ONE place is kinda limiting. So I purchased two timeshares. One in WV and one in Ft Lauderdale. The one in Ft Lauderdale is at the resort that I and 4 of my close friends weathered Hurricane Wilma - she busted out our windows, totally soaked every thing we had - forced us out on the streets - and luckily, just like in those Cinderella type movies - a couple of nice guys showed up and saved our butts! Mike and Jim- you know who you are! We are forever grateful! So it was a sign when I saw that timeshare was for sale and ON sale! I bought it and its now the Girls Vacation Week - every year. We just booked our flights tonight for a week in May in 2010. (NON Hurrican Season!).
This is something I have wanted to do too - have a one week vacation every year to the same place with the same people - all women - all friends - and all just having fun. That is on my list of The Top 100 things I Want To Do Before I Die. I just checked off - own a timeshare. I have also checked off skydiving, going to Cancun,Australia, Taiwan and various other locations and driving a race car! I have 88 things left to do before I die on my original list- but I keep adding more every day!!
I believe in setting these "goals" down in writing. Writing out your goals helps you really SEE them - I put up some pictures - I created a "dreamboard". I know it seems silly - but it does set something in motion somehow! Call it God, call it The Universe, call it Manifesting - call it whatever you want - but something gets set in motion and when something sets in motion - it stays in motion and gains momentum. So - write down your top 100 things - your "Bucket List" - and watch the motion begin!

Ah... The Colors of the Holiday Season.......
Every season has it's colors ---- the spring with all the paisley colors and Easter colors; the summer with it's cool blues, bright pinks and hot yellows; the fall with it's burnt oranges, reds, cranberry colors, dull yellows and the winter with the cold blues, the blacks the bright reds. I love the colors of the Holiday Season - that special red color, kelly greens, bright whites, dazzling blues and lots of others in between. This time of year people are thinking about going to parties and dressing up - those little black dresses come out, the holiday sweaters and caps come out, and for some of us makeup isn't exactly a thing on our mind. We wear the same ol' same ol' - or none at all (hey this is VT I live in!) We don't think about changing our make up and OUR colors to go with the changing of the season's colors. Even animals change colors - think of the bunny rabbit - brown to white for the seasons. Maybe it's something to think about. Some of us do think to change the clothing we wear (especially those down vests and heavy hooded sweaters - again this is VT). Some of us even "put away the summer clothes" and "get out the winter ones". Maybe thinking about our makeup isn't such a bad idea. If you don't wear makeup maybe this holiday season is a time to try it out! I read a great article on lipstick recently. And the funny thing is that this article was naming the Top 10 RED lipstick of the season and low and behold the brand of lipstick and makeup that I sell is actually rated #5! Our RED is HOT HOT HOT... and perfect for the holidays --- click on the title of this blog and it will take you to the article (we are #5 out of 10). If you want some high end quality makeup that doesn't cost you an arm a leg AND an ear - then check out my website http://www.motivescosmetics.com/bsabin - Happy Holiday Colors!

Gift Certificates? Why do they expire?
I was digging around the other day and came across an envelope from my daughter. I opened it up and in there was a gift certificate for $50 to a garden shop near our house. Now she gave me this last Christmas for a gift and in the middle of the hustle and bustle it got put away securely (too securely!). I was excited to find it! It's like getting a gift all over again! However.... it had an expiration date on it for one year from date of purchase- which means that is NEXT month! Holy cow - so I start making plans for what I could possibly by at a garden shop on November 1st (the day I found the envelope) - when I go to the website to look at things - I discover they closed for the season on October 31st! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR ----- so what do I do? Do I have a right to ask them to take this gift cert? The expiration date hasn't gone by and it will go by before they re-open! Man --- this stinks. I have to call them (oh but they are closed - so now what?). I think it's awful that gift certificates have expiration dates on them. I understand why some places want them - but doesn't that mean that they should refund the money? C'mon - my daughter spent 50 bucks of her hard earned money and now it's like she just threw it in the trash. It's my fault - no doubt - but I am going to try to plead with the shop to help me.
I used to think giving gift certificates for presents was a cop-out - an "easy mans" way of gift giving - but as I have grown older and seen so many gifts that were not used - not really wanted and re-gifted - I began to believe in gift certificates. I used to be bothered by the fact that someone would know how much I was willing to spend on them (after all wasn't that saying how much you thought they were worth?) - but now... now I think gift certificates are the BEST thing to do for the holidays. Why not let people get what they want? Why not show them that you want them to actually enjoy what they have - not get them something that will sit on a shelf until put out in a yard sale or given away to a thrift shop. Check out all the gift certificate options I have on my website - the Gift Certificate tab on the top of the page on my website (http://brendasabin.com - OR click on the title of this post and that will show you lots of ways to give "anything" - some gift certificate are valid for a variety of stores - even better! Have fun this holiday season - give with your heart and your head! Don't spend money on things people don't want - spend money by giving people what THEY want - the opportunity to "shop" for their own personal preferences..... And then - be nice and send them a reminder every month or so to USE IT!! And if you receive gift certificates, take my advice - put them somewhere you will SEE them all the time! http://brendasabin.com - Happy Holidays!
